From the world famous Exbury Estate, and hybridized by Lionell de Rothchild in the 1930's, this cultivar is still in demand today due to its excellent qualities. The foliage is somewhat rounded on the ends, is an attractive medium green, and has purple leaf petioles, making it one of the most attractive rhododendrons ever produced. The large rounded shrub blooms in April/May with light pink flowers with a kiss of yellow, creating a soft glow. The flowers are also quite fragrant. Difficult to propagate, so small numbers of plants are realized every year. Likes a partially shaded site.
Rare Variety – This variety is difficult to find anywhere due to these reasons
· Hard to propagate – many cultivars do not root easily from cuttings, but at a reduced rate thus making the plant rare.
· Hard to find – these cultivars are hard to find in the first place, probably because they are hard to root from cuttings
