African Fanfare

African Fanfare

Although quite tender due to its native home of South Africa, the plant's flowers are so extravagant, people want to try growing it. From late summer until late winter this heath will be covered with long showy tubular flowers, that can be bi-colored white at the base and mauve pink to purple at the tip. Very floriferous! Hardy to only 20 degrees F. Grows nicely to 3 ft tall x 2 ft wide, and can be pruned to keep tidy. Historically this cultivar is a hybrid derived from the Erica verticillata.
