Himalayan Dogwood
Himalayan Dogwood
Himalayan Dogwood. This bushy evergreen tree comes from China and the Himalayas and can grow to 30 ft. high. Its minute flowers, surrounded by 4 conspicuous, creamy, sky-facing bracts, appear in late spring and early summer. The pendent rose and apricot pink-tinted fruits that follow are an important part of the plant's decorative character. The leathery, oval, gray-green leaves are paler underneath. Will tolerate coastal winds. Great for windbreaks or decorative screens.
Even though most sources say this tree is hardy to zone 8, we feel that is pushing it. If your winters get below 20 deg F. I would not chance it.
