Yellow Bird

Developed  by the Brooklyn Botanic Garden in Brooklyn, New York, this yellow flowering deciduous magnolia is one of the best. 'Yellow Bird’ is a cross between M. acuminata var. subcordata and M. x brooklynensis ‘Evamaria’ and flowers nicely for 2 to 3 weeks as the leaves emerge in the spring. Excellent color consistency and precocious flowering are some of the qualities. The tree grow fairly fast, and will become 20 ft tall in time.  Hardy to zone 4.
