This is one of the toughest rhododendrons for landscaping. Used in mall parking lots, it can take abuse. Rich red flowers cover this medium size grower in late May. Somewhat drought tolerant. This new cultivar R. 'Vulcan's Son' is a sport off of R. Vulcan. Seems to be better in many ways. Very hardy.
