Viburnum plicatum f. tomentosum 'Summer Snowflake'
Viburnum plicatum f. tomentosum 'Summer Snowflake'
This highly attractive flowering shrub comes out in April-May time with white lacecap-like flowers on branch tops, covering them almost completely. The flowers continue sporadically through summer, hense the cultivar name. There are even a few flowers in the fall! In the early fall, black fruits form and attract birds, then in late fall the foliage turns red-orange. This deciduous shrub is native to China and Japan. 'Summer Snowflake' will grow 5-8 ft tall in 10 years, and a bit wider. Hardy to zone 5.
