R. arboreum ssp. cinnamomeum
R. arboreum ssp. cinnamomeum
Probably the most notable characteristic of this rhododendron species is the bright orange felty-indumentum on the undersides of the leaves. The craggy bark is noteworthy as well. The white flowers are held in tight trusses, and cover the plant in early spring. Plant on a mound or hill so you can see the undersides of the leaves.
Rare Variety – This variety is difficult to find anywhere due to these reasons
· Hard to propagate – many cultivars do not root easily from cuttings, but at a reduced rate thus making the plant rare.
· Hard to find – these cultivars are hard to find in the first place, probably because they are hard to root from cuttings
