Tanima-no-yuki

Tanima-no-yuki

A Japanese white pine with the name meaning 'Snow in the Valley'. The plant is a dwarf/miniature cultivar growing in a globose to pyramidal shape and, if happy, will reach 30 inches in 10 years (ours is much slower growing than this). In the spring, white new growth emerges from light-pink candles, giving it a tricolor look at that time. Although it is somewhat hard to establish, it is well worth the extra effort. Good drainage in a semi-shaded area is recommended. This cultivar was chosen by the American Conifer Society as 'Conifer of the Year' in 2015. These are difficult to grow; order at your own risk!
