Sequoiadendron giganteum 'Little Stan'
Sequoiadendron giganteum 'Little Stan'
Sequoiadendron giganteum 'Little Stan' is a dwarf, upright, broadly pyramidal selection of giant sequoia with dense branching and tight, congested, grayish blue, mostly juvenile foliage. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 32 inches (80 cm) tall and 20 inches (50 cm) wide, an annual growth rate of 2 to 3 inches (5 - 7.5 cm). 'Little Stan' is probably the slowest growing member of this species that is readily available in the nursery trade. This cultivar originated as a seedling selected in the mid 1990s by Nelis Kools of Deurne, The Netherlands. Nelis named the plant in honor of his nephew.
