Pendulum
Pendulum
The weeping form of the Giant Redwood is so very interesting. Shown here is a planting at the Oregon Gardens in Silverton, Oregon. The rich green foliage hangs on weeping leaders. This cultivar must be staked to get it going, but will stand on its own and grow straight up with all stems coming straight down. When 20 foot tall this tree is only 3ft. wide at the base. Sometimes it will throw multiple leaders and will layer making the tree wider at the base. If you have the space, this is truly a plant of interest and is a strong contender for the "Cousin It" conifer contest.
