Sagina subulata 'Aurea' (Scotch Moss)

Sagina subulata 'Aurea' (Scotch Moss)

A wonderful and easy to grow herbaceous evergreen perennial that prefers to grow in full sun (it is actually not a moss). Forming a dense compact mat of soft bright chartreuse foliage that can resemble flowing water or a lumpy lawn. Each 1 gal size will expand to be 12"-18" wide over time. Also popular between flagstones or the edges of a pathway as they can tolerate light foot traffic. Some gardeners use this plant as a lawn substitute, as it never needs mowing. Native to central Europe. Hardy to zone 4.

This garden effect was achieved by planting 1 gallon size Scotch Moss on 12 inch centers.
