Red Admiral
Red Admiral
Top favorite red flowering rhodo of many collectors I know, this R. arboreum hybrid has many quality traits. For starters, the plant grows strong and full, exhibiting flawless foliage. The flowers are about as red as you can get in stunning ball-shaped trusses. The plant flowers early, mid February into March here in Northern California, when little color is seen, and lights up the view. Originating in England at Caerhays Castle, the plant is a hybrid between R. arboreum and R. thompsonii. It is worth adding to any garden.
Rare Variety – This variety is difficult to find anywhere due to these reasons
· Hard to propagate – many cultivars do not root easily from cuttings, but at a reduced rate thus making the plant rare.
· Hard to find – these cultivars are hard to find in the first place, probably because they are hard to root from cuttings
