R. yungningense, also known as R. glomerulatum, is a species of rhododendron from northwest Yunnan, and southwest Sichuan, China growing around 10,000 ft on rocky slopes in full sun. Vivid purple flower cover this small leaved rhododendron in late March, into early April. This species is popular among those who love purple, as it is one of the best for a purple display.
