R. yungningense

R. yungningense

R. yungningense, also known as R. glomerulatum, is a species of rhododendron from northwest Yunnan, and southwest Sichuan, China growing around 10,000 ft on rocky slopes in full sun. Vivid purple flower cover this small leaved rhododendron in late March, into early April. This species is popular among those who love purple, as it is one of the best for a purple display. Often planted in rockeries with full sun exposure. Happy with occasional watering in summer.

Rare Variety – This variety is difficult to find anywhere due to these reasons
·        Hard to propagate – many cultivars do not root easily from cuttings, but at a reduced rate thus making the plant rare.
·        Hard to find – these cultivars are hard to find in the first place, probably because they are hard to root from cuttings
