R. 'Saffron Silk' x R. falconeri

This new hybrid was done by the late Frank Fujioka, and given to me to use for hybridizing. It has very attractive large oval leaves, that is from the bigleaf parent R. falconeri. Our plant is now 8 ft across and 4 ft tall. This would be a great candidate for anyone who loves the big leaf rhododendron species for their foliage but with more flowers, and is compact. I expect the plant to be hardy to zone 7. We have very few of these now, but will continue to take cuttings.
