R. 'Oh Kitty'

R. 'Oh Kitty'

This is most likely a R. 'Cotton Candy' hybrid by the late Fred Minch, which was originally called 'Miss Kitty'.  The flowers open in late April, or early May with red buds, shifting to a very light pink with darker edges and a cherry red throat. The flowers are held in large, tall FRAGRANT trusses, and always win the rhododendron flower show prizes. Each of the flowers in a truss are 6 inches across, making the truss 15" tall and 12 inches wide. WOW! Registered in 1973, the plant is hardy to 0 degrees F.
