R. 'Mary's Favorite'
R. 'Mary's Favorite'
Here is a rhododendron that is probably lost to the trade, but I was able to get one plant years ago from the Meerkirk Garden on Whidbey Island, Washington State. The flowers are quite large with a flared corola, pink with a yellow throat. The flowers are held in full trusses of 6-7 florets, and have a 'glow' due to the yellow. The plant has attractive foliage and will grow to 5 ft tall x 6 ft wide in 10 years. Hardy to zone 7.
Rare Variety – This variety is difficult to find anywhere due to these reasons
· Hard to propagate – many cultivars do not root easily from cuttings, but at a reduced rate thus making the plant rare.
· Hard to find – these cultivars are hard to find in the first place, probably because they are hard to root from cuttings
· Singing Tree Gardens Originals – All cultivars created uniquely by Singing Tree Gardens are deemed ‘rare’. Singing Tree Gardens is the ‘Exclusive Distributor in the USA’ of this variety.
