R. 'Grapesicle'

The seed from this interesting purple flowering new hybrid came to me via the American Rhododendron Society's seed exchange, where hybridizers send in seed from their experimental crosses for others to buy and raise. I have lost the actual parentage, but do believe that the deep purple rhododendron 'Johnathan Shaw' is the seed parent. I did win 'Best Purple' at our local rhododendron flower show in the past for this flower. I haven't been very successful in propagating it, but do have a few to sell. 

Rare Variety – This variety is difficult to find anywhere due to these reasons

·        Hard to propagate – many cultivars do not root easily from cuttings, but at a reduced rate thus making the plant rare.

·        Hard to find – these cultivars are hard to find in the first place, probably because they are hard to root from cuttings

·       Singing Tree Gardens Originals – All cultivars created uniquely by Singing Tree Gardens are deemed ‘rare’. Singing Tree Gardens is the ‘Exclusive Distributor in the USA’ of this variety.
