R. 'Golden Globes'

A new, but not registered rhododendron hybrid by Singing Tree Gardens Nursery. When I was looking to create a larger growing strong yellow flowering hybrid, I was using R. 'Nancy Evans' as a seed parent due to its rich butter yellow colored flowers. Then, someone showed me a truss of his hybrid R. campylocarpum x R. macabeanum, which was even more yellow. Plus the foliage was spectacular due to the R. macabeanum big leaf rhododendron parent. I obtained pollen, then made my cross onto R. 'Nancy Evans'. 5 years later this one caught my eye. Large flower trusses of clear yellow on a large growing plant with excellent foliage. So I named it 'Golden Globes'. I would guess this plant will be hardy to zone 7 due to the R. campylocarpum parent.
