R. 'Fort Bragg Centennial'
R. 'Fort Bragg Centennial'
Rhododendron ‘Fort Bragg Centennial’ is a vigorous evergreen rhododendron celebrated for its abundant blooms, handsome foliage, and reliable garden performance. Developed to commemorate the coastal heritage of Fort Bragg, California, this outstanding hybrid forms a dense, rounded shrub typically reaching 5–8 feet tall and wide, making it an excellent choice for woodland borders, foundation plantings, or specimen use.
In mid to late spring, the plant is covered with large, showy trusses of pure white FRAGRANT flowers, perfuming the area near the plant. The blossoms create a dazzaling contrast against the glossy, dark green foliage, producing a striking and long-lasting floral show.
Its evergreen leaves remain attractive throughout the year, providing substance and structure even when the plant is out of bloom. Like most rhododendrons, ‘Fort Bragg Centennial’ thrives in partial shade and prefers cool, moist, acidic soils rich in organic matter with excellent drainage. Protection from harsh afternoon sun and drying winds will help maintain its best appearance. This plant is a named form of the species R. odoriferum.
