R. degronianum ssp. heptamerum (Metternichii)

This lovely species is known by most as R. metternichii, but has been re-classified as R. degronianum ssp. heptamerum. The plant is very hardy, to -15 degrees F, and will grow best in partial shade. One can expect this plant to be 3-4 feet tall and a bit wider in 10 years. The flowers appear in late March to early April and are a light pink in color. The foliage is narrow, dark shiny green, with velvety indumentum on the undersides. Hardy to zone 5b.
