R. basilicum hybrid
This big leaf rhododendron has been in our collection for many years. We have a crop coming along that we grew from seed. The flower color, due to being seed grown will be anywhere from light yellow to light pink, but it hardly matters since we grow these big leaf rhododendrons for the foliage. I have lost the record of the parents of this one, but think it could be selfed since it looks just like the species. This plant is 18 ft tall x 30 ft wide after 25 years. The leaves are 1 ft wide and 3 ft long. Probably hardy to 15 degrees F.
