Primula veris

Primula veris

Sweet lemon yellow single flowers with red-orange markings are born on stems 5"-6" above toothed leaves in early to mid spring. This primula is native to temperate areas of Europe and Asia, and has been introduced and has naturalized in eastern North America. The common name of cowslip may be a reference to the moist slippery habitat of cow pastures (cows slipping and sliding around).
