Primula capitata (Round-Headed Himalayan Primrose)
Primula capitata (Round-Headed Himalayan Primrose)
Native to India and Tibet, this little primrose thrives in damp, shady locations, so can work well where most other plants do not. Deep violet-purple flowers appear in late spring to early fall on clumping rosettes of pale green leaves. In colder climates it can be semi evergreen and is deer and rabbit resistant. Grows to 10 inches tall and wide. Attracts butterflies. Hardy to zone 4.
