Pinus parviflora 'Negishi'

Pinus parviflora 'Negishi' is an upright dwarf selection of Japanese white pine with open branching holding short ascending branchlets and short, gray-green-Blue needles. Growing to 3 ft tall and 2 ft wide in 10 years, The blue-gray needles contrast nicely with the pink bud scales and new growth. Since this is a very popular cultivar for bonsai and Niwaki training, one rarely encounters un-pruned trees in gardens. Hardy to zone 5.
