Picea pungens 'Brynek'

Picea pungens 'Brynek'

In 1983, Slawomir Skorka, of Warsaw, Poland, selected a seedling from a batch he grew of Picea pungens 'Glauca' found in Poland's Brynek forest district. The plant is an exceptionally compact and globose selection of the Colorado Blue spruce with very prickly, thick steel-blue needles. The plant grows between 1" and 1.5" per year, so one might expect it to be around 12"-15" tall and wide in 10 years. It is likely a tetraploid. We are lucky to find a few of these to sell. Hardy to zone 3.
