Michelia x 'Jack Fogg'

This interesting tree is a hybrid of Michalea doltsopa and Michalea figo. The tree will be 15 ft or so in 20 years, with shiny, dark-green evergreen leaves that have buds coated with coppery indumentum. The May and June blooming flowers are white tinged with pink-purple on the edges, and like M. figo, fragrant with hints of banana cream pie. Likes full sun to part shade away from drying winds. Hardy to zone 7.
