Michelia doltsopa 'Fairy Blush'
Michelia doltsopa 'Fairy Blush'
A new Michalea from down under. Mark Jury is a hybridizer of magnolias and Michaleas in New Zealand, and has created some award winning plants. Even though the botanists are now saying that Michalea is now considered to be in the group called Magnolia, we still think it is different enough to be called a Michalea.
This highly fragrant flowering small tree will grow to be 9ft - 12ft tall and 5-7 ft wide. Blooming in February and into March, the tree is hardy to zone 7. These trees can be pruned to stay much smaller. The Jurys in New Zealand clip their Michaleas yearly to make smaller 'lollipop' trees near their entryway.
