'Isabellana' alstromeria
'Isabellana' alstromeria
We received this plant as 'Isabellana', but it is also known as Alstromeria x bomarea 'Fred Meyer'. The foliage doesn't look at all like any other alstromeria, and neither does the flower. However, it is quite striking when in bloom. The coral pink and grey-green tubular flowers are held in an umbel above the foliage on a 2ft tall stalk. A large clump of these can produce a dozen or more of the flowering stalks during the growing season. As all alstromeria are, they make a great cut flower, lasting for weeks. Found in south America by Klaus von Alstroemer in the 1700's. We will be sure to keep this one going.
