Hydrangea anomala 'Petiolaris'

Hydrangea anomala 'Petiolaris'

Mostly known as the 'climbing hydrangea, this deciduous vine is native to the Himalayas and China. The plant will climb on a trellis, or if left unattended will make a mound 3ft - 4ft tall and cover over 200 sq. ft. of area over time. The white flowers are fragrant, and are flat topped clusters around 8 inches wide. Over time the plant can make a tiered effect with lateral branches going out several feet. Exfoliating bark on mature stems is reddish brown and attractive in winter. Hardy to zone 4.
