Holmslee Opal

I was able to get this New Zealand hybrid years ago after I traveled there and saw 50 rhododendron gardens in 2 weeks time. I met some nice folks who were willing to send me cuttings later on. We have been growing this one for years, but just recently propagated it. It was created by Mr. A.G. Holmes in the 1950's and is a cross of  ‘Waxeye’ X ‘Van Nes Sensation’. The plant grows to 6 ft tall in 10 years, is very lush and full with excellent, lusterous green leaves. The flowers are white with a light pink blush and a copper-orange throat. Very light fragrance.
