Helleborus argutifolius - Holly Leaf Helleboro

Helleborus argutifolius - Holly Leaf Helleboro

Also known as the Corsican hellebore, it is native to Corsica and Sardinia. Growing to 18"-24" tall, it is one of the larger helleboros found. In some locals it will grow 3 ft tall. The plant is grown for its attractive evergreen toothed foliage that looks good against fine foliaged plants, adding interest and contrast. The pale light green flowers appear from February through April in large open clusters. Seems to be very insect and disease resistant, although slugs may like it. LIves and flowers reliably for years. Hardy to zone 6.
