Festuca glauca 'Beyond Blue'
Festuca glauca 'Beyond Blue'
Commonly called blue fescue, this low-growing clumping grass has glaucous, finely textured, blue-gray foliage. This cultivar was named 'Beyond Blue' as it is even more blue than the most commonly grown blue fescue. The 'spiny' look of this plant is valuable for contrast to other plants with larger foliage. We like to plant it with bright gold heather or dwarf conifer for a excellent display. The clumps average 6-8" tall and 10-14" wide. Sometime this grass will seed into the beds, but it is not often, and even if it does, you can transplant it to another part of your garden. 'Beyond Blue' was discovered in the Netherlands as a naturally occurring mutation of Festuca glauca 'Elijah Blue'. Patented.
