The Alpine tree heather, native to south Africa is one of the larger growers, becoming 6 ft in height over time. White flowers appear in April in the northern hemisphere, attracting bees and birds. Will become drought tolerant over time. This plant received the prestigious Award of Garden Merit in 1993. Little maintenance required, although light pruning after flowering is recommended. Hardy to zone 7.
