Dianthus brevicalis

Dianthus brevicalis

Grown for its intense pink color, the species originates from Turkey. It grows loosely cushion-like, the flowers are on short stems and appear in mid-May. Plant in  limestone gravel with with some organic amendments with plenty of sun. Popular in rock gardens with gravel screes dominate.

The solitary flowers are often stalkless, making more of a cushion.
