New Zealand Rimu Tree

New Zealand Rimu Tree

Commonly known as the Rimu Tree in its native New Zealand, this rarely found conifer has a very unusual habit. The tree starts out as a very floppy tree that needs staking, but will finally strike a leader and go up.  The needles resemble stiff, long, tiny bottle brushes that hang straight down, creating a most interesting weeping tree.
