Imbricata Weeping

Imbricata Weeping

Here is a fabulously sculptural conifer that will grow fast and weep for interest and appeal in any garden that has space for it. The long filamentous whipcord-like foliage weeps down as it comes out making an interesting specimen that will get comments from visitors. The light colored bark contrasts nicely to the rich green foliage. A 10 year old specimen will be 12 feet tall and 6 feet wide suggesting an annual growth of over 12 inches. This cultivar originated as a seedling selected in 1930 by R. E. Harrison Nursery, Palmerston, New Zealand. It was originally thought to be very hard to propagate and was therefore not mass-produced and released to the nursery trade until significantly later by D. Teese, Australia. Hardy to zone 5.
