Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'Argentea Compacta'
Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'Argentea Compacta'
A sport of Port Orford Cedar found in a nursery in New Zealand in the 1070's, Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'Argentea Compacta' is one of the slowest growing and most beautiful of the species. The petite leaves come out a lovely shade of pale butter yellow against bluish green in spring on a plant that only grows 2 inches per year. Because of its slow growth it is the perfect plant for a rock garden or model railroad garden. It seems to sparkle in the garden. Hardy to zone 5, the plant will only be 18" tall x 2 ft wide in 10 years.
