Calluna vulgaris 'Golden Carpet'
Calluna vulgaris 'Golden Carpet'
Found by John F. Letts in the UK amongst a group of seedlings of 'Mrs. Ronald Gray', this prostrate growing Scotch heather has golden foliage in the summer, but turns orange and red in winter. Its name is an allusion to the foliage color and habit. The plant creeps on the ground going up only 4 inches, but spreading to 12"-18" wide. Mauve flowers in August and September, sometimes going into October. Zone 5.
