Brunnera macrophylla 'Alexander's Great'

Brunnera macrophylla 'Alexander's Great'

Brunnera macrophylla, commonly known as Siberian bugloss, is a dramatic looking perennial for any garden. The leaves are large and heart-shaped and do best in some shade. The plant will be 1 to 1.5 ft tall and 2-3 ft wide. Each leaf can grow to be 10 inches wide. Small blue, forget-me-not-like flowers bloom in airy, branched racemes rising well above the foliage in spring. Interesting to note that bugloss means ox tongue. No serious insect or disease problems, but occasionally slugs or snails may take a bite. Hardy to zone 3.
