Az. 'Arneson Ruby'

Starting in the 1960's, Ivan and Robertha Arneson of Canby, Oregon started hybridizing deciduous azaleas. Over a period of 30 years they worked to produce the best and brightest deciduous azaleas. We have been lucky to grow some of their beauties. Their best red, often called the 'reddest' azalea is 'Arneson Ruby'. The plant will grow to be 3-4 ft tall in 10 years, and blooms in May. The red color is a deeply saturated ruby red enhanced by red filaments on its stamens. Hardy to zone 5.
