Acer sieboldianum 'Mikasa Yama'

Wide palmate leaves of medium green cover this small upright deciduous tree in spring and summer. The shade of green is lighter on the undersides of the leaves. In autumn, the tree shifts to a brilliant orange-red color with gold highlights. Spectacular! This variety prefers sun or partial shade in well drained soil, with protection from strong winds. Will grow to 10 ft tall and 4 ft wide in 10 years. More hardy than other Japanese maples, living in all zones down to zone 4.
