Acer palmatum 'Tsuma Beni'

 There are several Japanese maples that have leaves that look like Tsuma Beni, but this form is our favorite for distinct and bright color. The tree will grow to 8 ft tall and a bit less wide in 10 years. Known as 'Clown Face' in Japan, which wonder about. This wonderful form of Japanese maple came to us from the famous Japanese plantsman Kochiro Wada back in the 1960's. Kochiro Wada also gave us the best form of the rhododendron R. degronianum ssp. yakushimanum, which has his name.  Hardy to zone 5.
