Acer palmatum 'Shojo Nomura'

 This exciting Japanese Maple has several attributes. Besides being a perfect size for most gardens, 15 ft tall and 10 ft wide, this cultivar will keep its red color better than others when in some shade. The new growth comes out dark-purple, almost black, but then turns red by summer,,,never shifting to green. The fall color is a brilliant rich red that can offer an effect that is stunning when back lit by morning or evening sun. The name 'Shojo Nomura' means 'beautiful red faced monkey'. Hardy to zone 6.
