Acer palmatum 'Black Lace'

Found and introduced by Jan Willem Wezelenburg of the Netherlands, this lace leaf Japanese maple is a very deep dark burgundy, approaching black. This tree will not disappoint! Growing to 10 ft tall and wide in 10 years, the tree will display a rich scarlet red color in autumn, just before it drops its leaves. The habit is slightly weeping, giving it a unique look. As dark leaved plants are so useful for contrast, it is recommended to plant this one near bright or light colored foliage plants for a 'pop'. Hardy to zone 5.
