Abies squamata 'Flaky'

Introduced by the Buchholz Nursery in Gaston, Oregon, this upright conifer was named due to the interesting exfoliating bark, but the most decorative quality is the lovely velvety-purple cones produced along the branches. Originally from China and very rare. Prefes full sun in well-drained soil. 'Flaky' will grow to 8 ft tall and 4 ft wide in 10 years. Hardy to zone 5.
