Abies cephalonica 'Meyer's Dwarf'
Abies cephalonica 'Meyer's Dwarf'
Abies cephalonica 'Meyer's Dwarf' is a dwarf selection of Greek fir that is a bit of a wild card. The most common form of Meyer's Dwarf is low and spreading. HOWEVER, every once and awhile this little rebel throws up a leader and forms a short, squat, pyramidal tree. Both forms present dense, shiny, dark green needles and clusters of bright red cones. The needles on Meyer's Dwarf are shorter than other varieties of this species, giving it notable bunchy texture that will surely stand out. Growing at 2 to 3 inches per year, either form would be an attractive addition to any rock garden or layered landscape. It will likely be several years before you know which form you will get, so please don't ask us for a specific form as that will not be possible; but if you love a good garden adventure and you are a sucker for a truly unique plant, Meyer's Dwarf is definitely for you.
