Thuja plicata x standishii 'Green Giant'

 Well known and favorite screening tree, this fast growing Arborvitae will put on 3 ft of growth per year, making it a favorite for those looking to block out a view. Stays a rich green color all winter and can grow in full sun or part shade. Hardy to zone 5. Reported to have been created by crossing Thuja plicata x Thuja standishii in Denmark in the latae 1960's. Tested in the U.S. National Arboretum, then distributed to other nurseries. Often used as a substitute for the Leyland cypress, which grows much taller. Can get to 60 ft tall.
