R. odoriferum

If you like the smell of gardenias on a shrub with very attractive shiny foliage, then this plant is for you.  Pure white flowers that are very delicate and pristine, bloom in mid May here on the Pacific Coast in California.  We planted our R. odoriferum right at the nursery entrance so it has to be good.  This tender species ( to +15 F) comes from southern Tibet and grows at about 8,000 ft. elevation in the Himalayan mountains there.  We think anyone who has a climate suitable to grow this fine species should definitely do so.
