White Pearl
White Pearl
GROWS BIG AS A HOUSE! Hybridized in the late 1800's, this vigorous and heat tolerant rhododendron will be a great choice for a flowering hedge. This cultivar will grow to be 12-15 ft tall over time, and quite wide as well. Most useful as a screening plant due to its fast growing nature. Also known as 'Halopeanum', it is one of the first named hybrids and is a cross between R. griffithianum and R. maximum, an Asian species and a North American species. The flowers open pink, but fade to white with light pink stripes. The foliage is quite supurb, being very dark-green and shiny. This plant won an 'Award of Merit' in 1906.
