Viburnum x bodnantense 'Pink Dawn'
Viburnum x bodnantense 'Pink Dawn'
Perfuming the air for some distance, stops our customers in their tracks. Immediately they are trying to discern which plant is so very fragrant. An unlikely suspect! This Viburnum blooms on bare wood in early winter when most things are dormant. This cultivar 'Pink Dawn' has won the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society, so it has to be good. The plant is reported to grow up to 8 ft. tall and 6 ft wide, but ours has only grown to 5 ft tall x 5 ft wide in 8 years from planting. The fragrant flowers are followed by fruits that mature from scarlet to black in the fall. Our 5 gallon plants are about 4 ft tall.and 2.5 ft wide. In the spring after flowering the bronze leaves emerge, then shade to emerald green for summer. The fall color is red-burgundy. FLOWERING AND PERFUMING NOW!
